If youre involved with Christmas or Breeding Bird Counts, the boundaries of your count circle are always of interest, and sometimes unclear. Count Circle includes the complete National Audubon database of CBCs (updated as of December 2018), with a total of 2883 different count circles in 93 different states, provinces and territories including Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, and Antarctica. Lookup and display any count circle on an interactive map, and find out exactly what is (and is not) included in the circle. You can even display multiple circles at the same time, including, with just one click, all of the circles in a particular state or country.Count Circle also displays your current location, so you can determine precisely if you are inside or outside the count circle as you are doing your count.You can also use Count Circle just to view the different circles, to help you decide which ones you might like to participate in.If you have reason to believe the database is in error, or if you are a count organizer and want to experiment with repositioning the circle for better coverage of key areas, Count Circle lets you set the center of the circle, then update the database, and even, if you choose to do so, report the revision directly to National Audubon.You can also create and save your own circles, and, combined with the ability to display multiple existing circles, this provides the perfect way to position a potential new circle so that it doesnt overlap existing circles. You can even choose the radius (in miles or kilometers) if you want to use something other than the "standard" 7.5 mile radius used for the CBC. App will not open. Reinstalled a second time with the same result. I used it successfully a couple years ago, but not today.
I downloaded this on 12/26/2020 because one of the other birders loves it, but it never opened for me, I can't use it at all
Saw Tim Hahn review so tried it for a third time. Still does not even open.
Does what it's supposed to. CBC circles are generally communicated via old, outdated maps, so it's great to have this cheap and easy to use resource that allows birders to constantly know where they are in relation to the CBC border.
Purchases this app and as others have noted it crashed immediately. I immediately uninstalled and got refund.
Up until recently, this app has been great. You can look at any CBC circle, you can zoom in while you are running a count to look for new areas to explore or to make sure you are still within the boundaries. Unfortunately, the app is now crashing whenever I try to open it. Others are apparently having the same issue. If the app creators can get it working again, it is worth the purchase, but for now, don't bother.
Buyer beware. I installed this app on November 27th. It crashes before it ever starts. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same result. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+. I contacted the developer and, because it was a holiday, I gave him over the weekend to respond. When I didn't get a reply, I contacted Google Play, only to find out that there was a 48 hour window to request a refund. I attempted to contact the developer again today but still no luck.
Crashes immediately on Samsung J7 Prime with Android 8.1.0. Seems like a great idea but the app isn't stable at the moment.
Found out about thus app from another birder and got it today. It will not open. I tried several times, restarted and powered off my LG phone. Visited the developers website and didnt find any info there to help diagnose why it wouldn't open. Uninstaaled for refund. Scott Myerle Beach, SC
